AI4Deliberation – Artificial Intelligence for Institutionalised, Multimodal, Gamified, Mass Democratic Deliberations

The AI4Deliberation project aims to develop and test AI-enabled tools and processes to facilitate large-scale deliberations in public decision-making.

Projektleitung:

The project seeks to create a theoretically grounded and empirically tested AI toolkit, enabling multimodal (video, audio, text) deliberations, integrating gamification elements to enhance engagement, and fostering inclusive and transparent participation processes. These AI-enabled deliberations are designed to improve democratic practices by supporting governments in institutionalizing these processes. The framework will help enhance the legitimacy of decision-making, improve public trust, and address the challenges of democratic decline, polarization, and disinformation.

The Centre for Democracy Studies Aarau, leads Working Package 2 (WP2), focusing on developing and testing AI-enabled deliberation methods in real-life pilots. This includes exploring how AI can facilitate participant selection, moderate discussions, promote equal engagement opportunities, and integrate gamification elements to encourage active participation.
